Wee: Karpal A Flip-Flop MP Who Keeps Changing Views
Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong has accused Karpal Singh of flip-flopping over Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy allegations.
Wee said that in 1997, Karpal, the DAP chairman, had publicly accused Anwar of sodomy.
"Karpal told a crowd at a DAP gathering in Federal Hotel that he had proof to confirm Anwar was involved in sodomy. Now, Karpal is on his defence team."
On Monday, in his blog post, Wee said he had brought this up in Parliament that year. He added that on Feb 8, last year, Karpal called for Anwar to step down as the leader of the loose grouping Pakatan Rakyat.
"In just a month, Karpal changed his mind and said Anwar should not let go of his seat because he continues to command the confidence of the opposition MPs," he said.
Last week, Karpal said he had asked for Anwar, who was the deputy prime minister then, to be investigated for sodomy.
Karpal was disputing the account of Datuk Zaid Ibrahim over his role in the issue.
Zaid had alluded to Karpal's role in the sodomy trials of Anwar, saying that while today, Karpal was representing the opposition leader in court, it was he who had earlier been convinced of Anwar's guilt.
